When you choose me as your photographer, I want you to know that you're going to get way more than a few pretty pictures and a thank you card. You're getting someone that genuinely cares about your entire experience from the moment you fill out that contact form to the moment you lay eyes on your first retouched photo. I want you to feel stress free, prepared, and excited on your session day with me. Not sure on how to pose? No problem. Don't know where to shoot? I got you! I'm no genie, but I will do my absolute best to ensure you're ready for your day.
My Promise to you
2017 was the year I bought my first DSLR camera, and I haven't put it back down since. At that time I was running an online clothing store and always finding myself in need of fresh images to market with. After so many failed attempts to get the images I needed from other photographers, I decided to try and do it myself! I eventually sold the clothing line, but the camera stayed with me.
How it started
Like many photographers starting out, I shot EVERYTHING - birthday parties, weddings, couples, nature... anything I could get my hands on. But, I found my greatest joy in serving families, mamas, and entrepreneurs. Now having 2 kids of my own, capturing my family has become even more of a necessity than ever. And as a business owner, I wholeheartedly know how difficult it can be to confidently put yourself out there without the proper imagery to accurately display your value. Having these perspectives have not only helped me become a better photographer but it's also shaped how I run my business and serve my clients.

My absolute favorite genres/music styles are urban contemporary Gospel, Afrobeats, lofi instrumentals, and Neo R&B (think Maverick City Music, Burna Boy, Keifer, Moonchild, & Masego)

Maurissa is amazing and truly gifted to hold a lens! She even went above and beyond by providing both a list of studios to choose from and a list of makeup artists I was in desperate need of at the last minute!

OMG I could rave about Rissa all day! She was very professional and personable. I hired her for my son's senior photos and my family photos and I could not have made a better choice. She was on time and was very patient with my son and my family. My family loved how she made us interact with each other so we could get those natural poses.
Once we received our photos we were more than pleased with the outcome. She is a great photographer who loves what she does because it shows in her work and in her attitude. She is my go to photograph if I need one for anything.
I was referred to Maurissa by a good friend last year. I have since used her as my photographer on three separate occasions. Maurissa is not only personable, but she is a true professional! She is always accessible when I have questions about my shoot, straightforward and concise with pricing, and truly a joy to work with. One thing I loved was how she went out of her way to play music I loved while she took my pictures. I was very much at ease and enjoyed my session.
I took some pictures with my family over Christmas break using Maurissa. Not only was she knowledge about lighting and photographic elements, but she was so fun to shoot with! She had my mom, my sister and I laughing all throughout our shoot. We did the shoot to refresh our family portrait collection and my mom loved our pictures!
